Serving comfort food with heart
In 1993, Spencertown native Dan Rundell discovered a 1925 Jerry O’Mahoney Diner listed for scrap in a Hemmings Motor Magazine. After many decades of operation, the diner, previously located in Durham, had fallen into disrepair. Dan, who has a passion for restoring classic cars, purchased the diner to be his next great restoration project. While continuing his career as a stone mason, Dan spent his nights and weekends restoring the diner to its original luster over the course of the following 12 years! The beautiful tile, wooden cabinetry, etched windows, and nickel ventilation hoods are all either original or sourced from other early 20th-century structures. After the restoration was complete, Dan ran the Diner for 10 years. While he has now stepped back from the day-to-day operations, he continues to make sure everything is in ship-shape, while we continue to make sure his vision for the diner lives on, serving classic American food to the community.
